Misunderstood

The feeling of being constantly misunderstood can take a toll on you emotionally, and it is challenging when your intentions are for the best. Still, the absence of mutual understanding allows for the differences to remain. I realize the importance of not taking misinterpretations personally, but the human in me cannot help it. Moments like this are when I need to take a step back.

I do not deal well with conflict; I like to resolve issues immediately, forgetting that sometimes people need their own time to process what has occurred. As much as we don’t want to admit that we are the problem, sometimes we are, it doesn’t make you the wrong person, but no one is perfect. The experiences and perceptions that we each hold as beings form the reasons behind why we think, act, and feel the way we do. It is not for everyone to understand, but respect is necessary.

Accountability is another thing that I have learned the importance of; you arent sincere unless you acknowledge how your behavior may have played a part in someone’s pain. I have learned never to force my perception on others but to understand how all views can differentiate. Understanding alone won’t always defuse matters but provides a complete overview. Many people live with daily fears from traumas they have witnessed or gone through in their life, so their reactions may vary.

My greatest is advice would be to ditch the “it’s a personal problem” attitude because beneath is a lack of maturity. Life is too short to stress and not be happy, but true happiness doesn’t involve ignorance or confrontation. It would help if you always did what makes you happy, yet filling a bucket has never hurt anyone. Before crossing off a situation because “it is what it is,” ask yourself, did you contribute to that problem!
